GIF Steps

Here are a few steps to try out if you are experimenting with how your GIF file will look when exported. Reminder that it is not due until next Friday, and I will go through the steps in detail in class on Tuesday.

Once you have your layers ready to go (or test this anytime, you can always keep changing the layers), open your timeline (found in "Window" menu). Of the two options provided ("video timeline" and "frame animation") select "frame animation" and then click on the actual "create frame animation" textbox. You can also toggle between these two timeline settings by clicking a little icon at the bottom left of the timeline window (the icon should look like either tracks or frames). You should see one or all of your image layers populate in the timeline as slides. To get them all in properly, click the timeline menu (little horizontal dashes at the upper right of the timeline window) and select "make frames from layers." (If this option is not available, I would click "delete animation" at the top of that menu and then start it again.) All layers should appear in the timeline as frames, but if they do not, select them all at once in your layers panel and do it again. Click on each individual slide menu in the timeline and set each duration to "no delay," then set the loop to "forever." Press the play button to watch a preview of the GIF. I will go over exporting on Tuesday. No worries if something goes wrong, we'll figure it out together in class.

Looking forward to reading you posts on glitch and digital literacy!
