Glitch Art

One thing that really caught my attention about glitch art and glitches in general is the politics behind it. The fact that people could manipulate a glitch to collect data for their own purposes is a bit mind blowing. It makes me think about all the information that people put on social media not knowing or thinking that it could be shared and unsecured. Another thing that caught my eye is that people decided to make art out of these glitches. Instead of making a fuss out of this glitches or bugs they used it as a form of expression. The fact that they figured out a way to manipulate the data to their advantage as well, I wonder what the first person who experienced a glitch though about it.

  1. You're on a great track here, Nashaly—it's good to hear that the video essays brought up some new ideas and questions for you. In future written posts, try to expand on them a bit more, and include more details from the content. The whole notion that glitches aren't actually "mistakes", but rather generated through human error, or in some cases even intentionally provoked, seems to have opened some conceptual doors for you, particularly in how it applies to social media. I hope you'll expand and apply to your own work!
